High-tech honors at Gaming Technology Summit

PokerTek, IGT, GCA recipients of top technology product awards

Attendees of this year's Gaming Technology Summit, held May 24-25 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort & Casino, have made their picks for the cream of 2005's gaming technology product crop.

The winners were selected from Casino Journal's Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products contest winners, featured in the June issue. Attendees voted for their favorites at the summit, and the top three vote-getters were awarded Silver, Gold and Platinum awards during the keynote luncheon on the second day of the show.

Here are the winners and brief product descriptions:

  Platinum Award Winner: PokerPro(tm)

  -PokerTek Inc.

PokerPro(tm) is both a poker table and a computer system combined into one, using a fully automated server-based gaming platform. With a touchscreen and a 40-inch monitor in the center of the table, ten players compete against each other in the game of Texas Hold'Em. Each player screen displays cards, chips, timers and betting options. The center monitor shows community cards, player bets, the rake and the pot. PokerPro(tm) automatically shuffles, deals, calls pots and prompts players. The PokerPro(tm) system also includes a cashier station, an automated waiting list and a wireless management tool that enables poker room supervisors to start, pause, stop and monitor, the PokerPro(tm) tables.

Gold Award Winner: Server-Based (sb(tm)) products

 -International Game Technology

IGT's Server-Based (sb(tm)) system line provides high-speed delivery of game downloads, content, configuration (including denominations, payback percentages, volume level and deal speed), scheduling and remote game ordering via secured transactions. The sb(tm) technology is being offered in IGT's newly designed TrimLine cabinet, with a full library of popular IGT game titles. In addition, the technology will be available on the company's GameKing(r) and AVP(r) video slot machines via conversion kits.

  Silver Award Winner: EDITH system

  -Global Cash Access

Developed in partnership with IGT, EDITH (Electronic Debit Interactive Terminal Housing) is a compact kiosk placed at the end of a row of slot machines, where it occupies less than one square foot of space. EDITH allows patrons to purchase slot tickets with their ATM debit card-maximizing convenience for patrons who no longer have to walk long distances to find an ATM and lose the "hot" slot machine they were playing. Patrons simply insert their ATM or debit card, enter their PIN and request an amount. A bar-coded debit ticket is then dispensed from EDITH's voucher printer. An optional receipt is also provided. Players can then use those tickets in slot machines.
