New Biometric Product Enhances Identification Process
Faster, more accurate fingerprint security solutions have recently been launched by DigitalPersona
Redwood City, Calif.-based DigitalPersona Inc., a provider of biometric authentication solutions for enterprise networks and commercial applications, has released its DigitalPersona® One Touch® I.D. software development kit (SDK). The new kit enables developers to create fingerprint biometric solutions with superior identification capability. The One Touch® I.D. SDK extends the functionality of the DigitalPersona® Gold, Gold CE and Platinum SDKs by giving developers the ability to identify people on a large scale by connecting the fingerprint to a user’s authentication and personal information.
The kit allows developers a more convenient method of fingerprint authentication by enabling applications with large data sets of fingerprint templates to perform high-speed searches on the collection of enrolled fingerprint templates. Users only have to touch a fingerprint reader to authenticate themselves, eliminating the use of an identifier such as IDs or PINS to start the authentication process.
The system’s enhanced algorithms can select a user’s identity with a fingerprint out of a data set of 1,000 prints in less than two-tenths of a second.
“Developers who create applications using DigitalPersona’s Gold and Platinum SDKs can now improve their offerings with the addition of large-scale identification capabilities,” said Chip Mesec, senior product marketing manager for DigitalPersona. “The One Touch® I.D. SDK continues in the tradition of DigitalPersona SDK products by providing secure, accurate and customer-proven fingerprint biometric tools for developers to incorporate into mission-critical applications.”
Additional features include: two-finger identification—using two fingers to perform identification, improving identification accuracy and resulting in a higher level of security; fingerprint database clean-up, enabling developers to eliminate redundant fingerprint templates and eliminate fraudulent users within data sets; template expiration, which enables developers to build annuity renewals into their systems providing identification templates limited to one-year or three-year durations; and scalable identification—data sets can be searched simultaneously to enlarge the total data set for identification.
The One Touch® I.D. SDK is priced at $499 with additional fingerprint template identification licenses starting at 50 cents. The One Touch® I.D. SDK package includes the identification development software and run time environment, two licensing tokens, and 1,000 evaluation fingerprint identification licenses.
