The Sopranos™ slots

—Aristocrat Technologies

Aristocrat Technologies has unveiled its latest line of stepper titles, The Sopranos™, based on the popular HBO television series. The Sopranos™ is a three-level mystery-style linked progressive featuring new games based on the hit show. The product line is being launched on Aristocrat’s all-new MAVStepper cabinet. The cabinet includes enhanced reel speeds, superior lighting and an LCD top box, all in the familiar footprint of the MAV500 cabinet. Engaging LCD graphics and signage branded with The Sopranos completes this fully integrated package.

The base game is a five-reel/20-line format, and Aristocrat rolled out the slots at last year’s Global Gaming Expo with two games themes titled “Top Boss” and “Welcome to the Family.” A third title, “Play to Get Made,” is scheduled to be unveiled at a later date, coupled with the first application of Aristocrats Reel Power technology in a reel-spinning slot.

Each machine is topped with a big LCD video screen, as well as an overhead video display for banks of machines.

The games feature familiar icons from the show and its associated gangster world tie-ins. The overhead video screen runs selected scenes from the series, plus the LCDs on the units are linked to run the title across all four screens, depicting the famous Sopranos opening sequence.

Any one of the games’ three mystery progressive jackpots can be awarded randomly at any time. The lowest level is “Soldier” (which is seeded with $10), middle level is “Capo” (starting at $100), and the top level is “Boss” ($500 or $5,000). When a player is awarded one of the progressives, the video screens play a scene from the show.

MicroTouch™ ClearTek™ II touchscreen surface finishes and MicroTouch™ ClearTek™ II wide aspect ratio touchscreens

—3M Touch Systems Inc.

Environmental lighting conditions can be difficult to control, especially in casinos, and can cause distracting glare to users of touchscreen gaming displays. Also, varying display characteristics among popular gaming LCD monitors can conflict with standard touch screen optics. Combine these two factors and finding the best match in touchscreen optics becomes exceedingly important. Responding to customer requests for choices to meet their lighting and display requirements, 3M Touch Systems now offers ClearTek™ II touchscreens with three distinct surface finishes: AG500, AG250, and WC100.

Where a few years ago the casino gaming industry overwhelmingly converted from CRT monitors to LCD displays, now the industry is quickly moving to wide aspect ratio displays that require touchscreens to match. Responding to this escalating trend, 3M Touch Systems now offers wide aspect ratio touch screens in popular gaming display sizes ranging from seven inches to 32 inches. And due to its unique capacitive technology manufacturing process and flexible supply chain, 3M can provide the touchscreen sizes customers want, when they’re needed (based on reasonable schedules).

3M is also offering a new large-format touch tech-nology. Based on 3M’s patented Dispersive Signal Technology (DST), MicroTouch DST touch systems are available in 32-inch, 40-inch, 42-inch and 46-inch screen sizes, and offer an ideal solution for large-format interactive applications that require fast, accurate, reliable touch response. Other unique features include operation unaffected by surface contaminants and “dynamic touch”, which ignores static objects on the screen and allows for multi-user touch capabilities.

The TOR Series enclosures are available in two to four rackspaces to meet the needs of a variety of installations.

The TOR Series features a convenient design enabling easy access to equipment controls. Its low-profile appearance allows systems integrators to mount security equipment, such as DVRs and VTRs, without compromising the aesthetic appearance of the space. Moreover, the mounting options provided by the TOR Series provide installers with the ability to satisfy the specific demands of any installation.

The surface mount TOR Series model provides an easy-to-install, unobtrusive solution for storage of security equipment, while the flush mount model saves even more space, enabling installers to build the rack into the wall in any area of the room.
