Same three cities make cut for 10th Illinois casino license
There may have been a brand
new Illinois Gaming board, but the new
panelists selected the same three cities as finalists for the tenth and last Illinois riverboat
casino license.
The finalist cities (all Chicago
suburbs) and their backers (from the seven applicants) are Rosemont (Trillant
Gaming), Des Plaines (Midwest Gaming) and Waukegan (Waukegan Gaming
LLC).
Board members will now more thoroughly check the proposals
of the finalists for such factors as adequate financing, minority ownership,
and potential to generate revenue for the state.
These cities are the same
cities that were finalists several years ago when the license was awarded to
Rosemont, then backed by Emerald Casino, that collapsed when some questionable
ownership was alleged, and the license revoked. Board members were subsequently
replaced by new appointees by Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
