MAJORITY OF BERMUDANS SUPPORT CASINO LEGALIZATION

The poll, conducted by MindMaps and The Royal Gazette, also reported 30 percent of the respondents were against legalization and 9 percent were undecided. Support for gaming legalization was strongest among 45- to 54-year-olds, 77 percent of who responded positively; and weakest among those 65 or older, 44 percent of who came out against legalization.
Gaming expansion has been a hot issue of late in Bermuda, thanks to a recently released Strategic Imperatives Report from the Tourism Board that calls for the legalization of gaming and the opening of a casino in Bermuda within two years. The government recently decided to put the controversial issue to the people in a national referendum, according to the Gazette.
