River Spirit Casino to open March 31

At the stroke of midnight on
Tuesday, March 31, Creek Nation Casino – Tulsa
will close its doors and just hours later the new River Spirit Casino will be
unveiled to the public, Director of Marketing Jennifer Cross announced.
“We are
excited to bring this one-of-kind gaming, entertainment and dining experience
to Tulsa and
the surrounding areas,” said Cross. “River Spirit Casino truly rivals many of
the casinos on the strip in Vegas.”
Tribal and
local dignitaries will commence the occasion at 9:00 am on March 31 with a
blessing conducted by Amos McNac and flute music provided by Scott Harjo.
Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Representative Cherrah Quiett will
deliver the invocation.
A
representative from Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor’s office will read the
proclamation exclaiming March 31 to be “River Spirit Day.”
Speakers at
the ceremony will include: Muscogee (Creek) Nation Principal Chief A.D. Ellis;
Thomas Yahola, Speaker of the House; Mike Flud, Chief of Staff; Ernie Stevens,
Chairman of the National Indian Gaming Association; Mike Neal, president and
CEO of the Tulsa Metro Chamber; and Mel Thomas, General Manager of River Spirit
Casino.
The ceremony
will conclude with the traditional cutting of the ribbon, and River Spirit
Casino will officially welcome the public at 10:00 am.
The first
1,000 patrons who present their new Infinity Players Club card on March 31 will
receive a River Spirit Casino commemorative Opening Day poker chip.
The official
grand opening festivities are scheduled for the weekend of May 1, 2009, a
three-day-long celebration including entertainment by Blues Traveler and a 2010
Chevrolet Camaro giveaway.
