Konami first to get temporary gaming-supplier certification for Kansas

The Kansas
Racing and Gaming Commission has received its first application for a gaming
supplier certification from a major slot machine manufacturer. Konami Gaming
Inc. delivered its paperwork to KRGC licensing officials. A temporary
certification was issued once KRGC security and licensing division verified
that requirements had been completed.
“We are pleased to receive the first of what we hope are many
applications from slot machine manufacturers,” said KRGC Executive Director
Stephen Martino.
Martino issued a directive in April regarding reciprocal
certification for gaming suppliers. The directive details certain conditions
suppliers must meet to enter the Kansas
market.
Conditions include:
- Evidence of current licensure or certification in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and New Jersey
- Completion of all required KRGC disclosure forms
- Payment of a deposit to cover the cost of the supplier’s background investigation
- Agreement to follow all KRGC rules, regulations and policies
Once all of these conditions are met, a temporary reciprocal certification may be issued. On Wednesday, May 20, the KRGC’s security and licensing division determined that Konami had met all conditions for temporary certification. That certification has been issued, and an investigation commenced that sets Konami on a course to receiving permanent certification to conduct business in Kansas.
