Tough month for Louisiana’s casinos
June 16, 2010
A report by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board shows casino revenues statewide down 9.3 percent in May from a year ago, the fourth straight month of declines.
The state’s 13 riverboat casinos, four racinos and the New Orleans casino won $203.6 million for the month. That’s down from $224.6 million in May 2009. It was an especially disappointing performance given the long Memorial Day weekend.
The riverboats won $137.7 million, down from $152.5 million in May 2009. The downtown New Orleans casino took in $30.8 million, down from $34 million, and the racinos won $35.1 million, down from $38.1 million.
