Entertainment Gaming Asia, a provider of electronic gaming machines to the Pan-Asian gaming industry, announced plans to develop a casino in the Cambodian province of Kampot.
Phase one plans call for the construction of a 14 table game and 25 slot machine casino on a 108,000-square-foot site in Kampot, a bustling border town that caters to the tourism trade from neighboring Vietnam. The company will initially spend US$1 million on the casino, with plans to add additional casino space, hotel, spa and entertainment venues.
The property, which will be operated under the company’s Dreamworld brand, is scheduled to open the fourth quarter of 2011, depending upon issuance of a gaming license.
“We are making solid progress in implementing our new growth strategy with the goal of becoming the leading owner and operator of regional casinos in select emerging gaming markets in Asia,” said Clarence Chung, chairman and CEO of Entertainment Gaming Asia. “We believe this strategic new project provides the potential for near-term earnings and long-term growth while further establishing our footprint and the Dreamworld brand in our target markets.”
