Omran launches gaming vertical
October 12, 2012
Illinois-based
Omron Electronic Components, the Americas subsidiary of Japan-based OMRON
Corporation, has created a new market vertical that will concentrate on the
gaming industry.
The
Gaming vertical is well-positioned to
fully pursue and engage their primary focus applications of mainly Class 3 casino gaming machines, which include slot
and video poker equipment. OMRON Corp.
has maintained a long term success in supplying components and systems in to
the Japan-based pachinko and pachisuro markets for decades; by partnering with
the Amusement division, Omron Electronic Components is able to leverage that
experience and expertise to develop smart strategies and support products that
will ultimately deliver new component and system solutions to the casino gaming
machine market of the Americas.
This
strategic expansion brings OMRON’s long history, proven quality and leadership
role in the Amusement industry from Japan to the Americas; it also puts in
place a local sales team intensely dedicated to the support and growth of the
Americas gaming industry. In addition, Nate
Takahashi, from Omron’s Amusement Division, has joined the gaming vertical team
as a field application engineer to support sales and marketing in the Americas
for the next three years; he is based in Pleasanton, Calif.
Omron
has developed, and continues to design very high-quality, high-reliability
technologies for the gaming marketplace.
The main products and technologies that Omron brings to the gaming market
are operation switches, illumination technology, LED control drivers, face
detection and recognition software (called OKAO), motion
sensing and hand gesturing software. To round out their “gaming portfolio,”
Omron further offers a full line of detection switches, photomicrosensors (solid
state optical interrupters), and even custom power supplies to keep every
component and system running smoothly.
“With our new focus on strategically selected vertical markets that now
includes gaming (slot machine makers), our sales and marketing teams are
becoming experts in understanding the needs of the customers within these industries,”
said Jim Neville, Omron’s vertical market manager. “This expertise will allow
us to draw from all of Omron's product and technology groups to develop the
best and most innovative solutions.”
