IGT has hired Microsoft CTO Chris Satchell to serve as the slot maker’s chief technology officer, responsible for IGT’s Information Systems team, research and development and advanced software architecture group. Satchell has an extensive 17-year work history in the video game and technology industries. While at Microsoft he was general manager and chief software architect of XNA, Microsoft’s game development platforms and services, director of engineering for Microsoft Game Studios and development manager for Studio RX, which developed “Forza, Motorsport, Fable” and “Crackdown”. Prior to joining Microsoft he was executive director and engineering director at 3DO Company and technical director at Silicon Dreams. He also has held positions in the research and development of distributed artificial intelligence and safety critical systems.
