Bally inks online partnership, recommended for Nevada Web gaming license

Bally Technologies, Shuffle Master and Ongame Networks, a provider of poker platforms, have created a strategic alliance aimed at globally expanding their online gaming presence and increasing their online business-to-business (B2B) product offerings.

This alliance will enable all three companies to take their combined strengths and offer a unique poker and iGaming platform solution. The ability to interface Ongame’s poker content through Bally’s iGaming platform is intended to provide a best-in-class B2B offering and allow operators to choose world-class technology, while maintaining control of their operations through proven gaming suppliers.

“Bally Technologies and Aristocrat Technologies have agreed to offer Ongame as one of their preferred poker solutions, thus creating a combined liquidity pool for our customers,” said John Connelly, vice president of business development for Bally Technologies. “Bally’s objective is to place the control in the hands of the operator. We are providing the necessary tools to have a single view of the player by incorporating existing and online gaming systems, while allowing operators to have the ability to cross-promote between traditional land-based and online consumers.”

In other Bally Technologies news, the company was recently recommended for an interactive gaming supplier license by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB). Bally is the first gaming supplier to receive this honor, according to a company press release.

Alpha Video drives digital signage innovation at Louisiana casino

When executives at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, La., decided the facility needed an eye-catching centerpiece to draw consumer attention to the gaming floor, they turned to Alpha Video to create an updated version of the win‐a‐car slot machine bank.

Car prize slot machine banks are not new to the gaming industry, but Alpha Video-with the help of its CastNET digital signage technology-designed, engineered and installed a unique configuration of 14 slot machines to grab the guest attention and promote the opportunity to win a new car. The slot machines are in two back-to-back rows of seven machines with the vehicle to be given away sitting on the top of the slot bank. Each slot machine includes an upper video screen which normally operates independently and displays pay‐out tables and messages that promote the game. For this slot machine bank, Coushatta and Alpha Video negotiated with WMS Gaming, the slot machine manufacturer, to allow the upper screen to host graphics that promote the opportunity to win a car. Alpha Video and Alpha Video Creative then created a system that allows motion graphics to run across the seven side-by-side upper screens. As the car drives across the screen, the graphics that appear promotes both the car give‐away and other entertainment options at the casino.

Alpha Video had to overcome a number of challenges to make this promotional slot bank a reality, not the least of which was working with the resort to create video content that was exciting and attractive without being too distracting and annoying the customers playing at the slot bank. Implementing the large-scale IPTV solution was also a significant challenge since the solution is network based. Network switchers needed to be accurately configured to manage the amount of date that is streaming across the network.
