IGT’s Service Window technology will soon be available on Konami Gaming’s slots.

IGT strikes deals with gaming machine vendors

It has been a busy couple of months for International Game Technology (IGT) on the vendor front, with the company inking content and technology arrangements with Lottomatica Group/Spielo International and Konami Gaming.

The IGT/Lottomatica pact involves a strategic relationship to bring game content and terminals to the Italian VLT (Comma 6b) gaming market. Under the terms of the arrangement, IGT game content will be exclusively available to the Lottomatica Group in Italy. Lottomatica will deliver IGT game content to the installed base of VLT’s in Lottomatica’s network, which, with nearly 9,000 units, is currently one of the largest active VLT network in Italy.

This strategic partnership provides entry for IGT into the Italian VLT market; which is reported to be in excess of $2 billion in gross gaming revenue, according to information provided by the company.

“IGT is excited about stepping into this large and growing market,” said Patti Hart, IGT chief executive officer. “Partnering with Lottomatica will allow us to engage the Italian VLT players with our game content… We are proud to partner with the leading operator of gaming entertainment in Italy and one of the largest gaming companies in the world.”

In addition to licensing game content, IGT will also partner with Lottomatica to integrate IGT’s VLT terminals on the Spielo VLT system, which is currently adopted in Italy by Lottomatica and several other concessionaires.

“[With IGT], we will not only increase our significant footprint in the VLT market, but we will be able to combine our resources to provide the Italian players with new and exciting games that will help increase our competitive edge in the market, leveraging on the integration with the Spielo VLT system and games,” said Marco Sala, Lottomatica Group chief executive officer.

Meanwhile, IGT and Konami Gaming have signed off on an agreement in which Konami slots will adopt IGT’s Universal Game Adaptor (UGA) and Service Window technology, clearing the way for IGT’s Picture-in-Picture functionality on enabled Konami machines.

Universal Game Adaptor (UGA) and Service Window technology allow operators to deliver floor‐wide bonuses, loyalty programs and services to players directly in the primary game window instead of the traditional interactive LCD. Similarly, Konami Casino Management System (KCMS) will be able to manage the Picture‐in‐Picture capabilities on enabled IGT slot machines using the UGA.

“We are very excited to join with IGT in utilizing the UGA on Konami slot machines,” said Steve Sutherland, chief operating officer and executive vice president of Konami Gaming. “This technology will deliver new ways for operators to communicate with their players. We are also pleased to join in the push to have a more collaborative relationship with our competitors that we hope will shape the industry moving forward.”
