Be honest, doesn’t it seem like October’s Global Gaming Expo actually took place over a year ago? You get back to the office after the show and the first few weeks are spent just catching up on all the stuff left fallow in the two-month gear-up to the event. Once your desk is clear of that, it’s the lead up to the holidays and finishing off the year’s business before Christmas break and, let’s be honest here, whose mind is really on work when A Charlie Brown Christmas is on the set and your in-laws are knocking at the door?
Before you know it, it’s 2012 and the start of a new buying season and you’re wracking your mind trying to remember the booths you stopped at on the G2E show floor, the products that impressed you, the company with the cool slot twist, the name of the system that was going to solve some of your compliance issues. Those memories are now in the ether and you’re wondering how you can recapture them.
In our own way, we’re here to help. In this issue of Casino Journal, you’ll find our “2012 Buyers Guide and Directory” starting on page 42. The Guide attempts to organize thousands of gaming offerings into meaningful categories that will streamline your search and direct you to the proper product or service faster and easier. The Directory portion is an alpha listing of some of the industry’s top vendors, with up-to-date contact information. In our “Companies to Watch” feature on page 32, we recap some of the small to mid-sized gaming vendors that made news in 2011 and bear following into 2012, as well as new companies and product launches that stood out from the crowd.
Our Web site (www.casinojournal.com) can help even more. The online version of our Buyers Guide and Directory resides there and its search function allows you to easily find whatever gaming offering you’re looking for by company or product name. If you don’t have this information, you can browse an alpha list of suppliers or four general product categories (design, gaming, hospitality, operations), each of which leads to a drop-down list of categories, so you can find the suppliers that offer the exact wagering product or service you desire. Click on a company name, and you’ll find the needed contact information (address, phone, fax, Web site, key contacts).
More importantly, the Casino Journal home page can help you research products before you commit to purchase. The site’s search function allows you to access all the edit content of the BNP Media Gaming Group (Casino Journal, Slot Manager, IGWB, and Products of the Week and Games & Technology Report e-newsletters) going back a number of years, allowing you to gain valuable historic and up-to-date information on a company and its products. You’ll also find listings for the most e-mailed articles, most popular articles and top searches taking place on the Casino Journal home page; all of which provide valuable insight on the information others in the industry are seeking from our content.
One last piece of good news-all these functions are provided for you free of charge. Consider it our annual holiday gift to you, a small stocking stuffer. God knows I wish I could give everyone a Lexus with a big red bow on it, but that may be a little hard to swing by the bosses.
