A.C. bright spots: Air travel, conventions
The Associated Press recently reported on some good news for Atlantic City: It appears visitation by air is picking up and forward convention reservations are on the rise.
The United States’ second-largest casino market expects more than 1.4 million visitors to arrive at Atlantic City International Airport before the year is over, the largest number ever.
The convention picture looks similarly promising. The number of people who made reservations in 2010 to attend conventions in the seaside resort in the next few years is up 73 percent to nearly 500,000.
It’s forecasted that those conventioneers will spend in excess of $169 million during their stay, the news agency said.
