Harrah's deep in Europe again with new resort plans
Casino giant Harrah's Entertainment announced plans to build a â¬1.5 billion gambling resort with a hotel in Slovakia.
The project is being pursued in partnership with a Hungarian real estate investment and development company called TriGranit, with whom Harrah's is negotiating financial details, the company said.
The project, known as Metropolis, would be located near the capital of Bratislava. Plans call for a casino, hotel, shopping mall and entertainment park with phased construction to start next year. Projections are for 5 million visitors a year to descend on the resort from across Central Europe.
Harrah’s said it would operate the casino and hotel, and TriGranit would run the other attractions.
Harrah's Managing Director of Development in Europe, Andrew Tottenham, said during a press conference in Bratislava that the project could be followed by other, smaller projects in Europe.
