The Hull City Council has awarded its provisional “large casino” license to Apollo Resorts & Leisure, clearing to way for the construction of a £100 million mixed-use gaming, hotel and housing complex in the heart of the city.

The casino will be part of Manor Mill, which is being developed by Manor Property Group on the east bank of the River Hull and will include a 185-room hotel and a 23-floor apartment building. The project will also have a public plaza, restaurants, a sports bar, a convenience store and a parking lot. Construction is slated to begin later this year.

The gaming facility at Manor Mill is the first large casino license to be awarded under the United Kingdom’s revised gaming laws established in 2005. The license allows Apollo Resorts & Leisure to create 1,500 square meters of gaming space to house 150 Category B gaming machine with a £2 maximum bet and a £4,000 maximum jackpot.

Apollo Resorts & Leisure was reportedly the only company to apply for the Hull gaming license. The license will become permanent upon the opening of the casino.
