Recently released statistics from France’s online gaming authority Arjel show that customers have spent â¬1.02 billion at the nation’s online gaming sites since the market was liberalized in June 2010 (â¬1 = US$1.44).
The lion’s share of this amount has been generated by sports wagering, which attracted â¬741 million in spend. Customers also spend â¬9.55 million on horse racing and â¬7.48 million on casino-style cash games.
Thirty-six licensed operators in France hold 50 licenses in these three categories, according toReuters. Arjel reports there are 2.9 million active wagering accounts.
