Following the closure of six Guadalajara casinos by local authorities last week, officials from Mexico’s Interior Ministry (Gobernacion) have shut down two more, according to the Guadalajara Reporter.
The Fantastic, in Punto Sao Paolo, and Yak, in the Centro Magno, have both been closed as part of investigations into casino licensing and security following the August 25 attack on Monterrey’s Casino Royale, which killed 52 people.
Meantime, the Reporter noted that Zapopan Mayor Hector Vielma has vowed not to authorize the opening of another casino during the rest of his administration. He also said that ten months ago the municipal council blocked an attempt by the Casino Royale owners to open a gambling establishment in Zapopan. Of the municipality’s ten casinos, only one has opened during Vielma’s term.
