Harrah's Entertainment has launched the third generation of its award-winning Total Rewards customer loyalty program.

The new, expanded Total Rewards will offer its members the ability to earn Reward Credits and Tier Credits for nearly all of their entertainment expenditures at participating venues, including dining, live entertainment, golf, spa and retail outlets.

For every dollar members spend on most non-gaming purchases at Harrah’s properties, including their hotel stay, members will earn one Reward Credit. Those points can then be redeemed for entertainment expenditures at participating outlets.

Total Rewards, introduced in 2000, was the casino industry’s first national, multibrand loyalty effort. The newly expanded program allows the 40 million-plus Total Rewards customers to accumulate Rewards Credits and Tier Credits for most entertainment expenditures.

To earn Reward and Tier Credits, Total Rewards members must present their Total Rewards cards at the point of purchase. Guests staying at Harrah’s-operated properties can earn credits either upon check-in or prior to check-out. The process of redeeming credits remains unchanged.

“This is an exciting and important enhancement to Total Rewards,” said David Norton, chief marketing officer, Harrah's Entertainment. “It’s a natural evolution that incorporates our growing number of entertainment offerings and appeals to gamers and non-gamers alike. Now more people in more places can enjoy the benefits of earning and redeeming Rewards Credits.”

Most of the 40 Harrah’s-operated casinos around the country began introducing the Total Rewards Entertainment Package with a themed promotion in early October. New ways to earn are available at all casinos owned and/or operated by Harrah's Entertainment except for Harrah’s Rincon, Harrah's Chester, Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and Saloon and London Clubs International.

Customers who join Total Rewards at any time during a participating casino’s promotional period will receive a game piece that may contain an embedded code to win a fabulous to visit one of Harrah's destination resorts. Among the available prizes are tickets to see Cher or Bette Midler at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a trip to a London Clubs International casino in the United Kingdom, a Mardi Gras experience in New Orleans or an alpine getaway in Lake Tahoe.

All Total Rewards members can obtain game pieces on select promotional dates at participating casinos; each member is eligible for one game piece on each promotional date that they visit a participating casino. No purchase or play is necessary to enter the promotion.

Total Rewards will continue to recognize its Gold, Platinum, Diamond or Seven Stars members, and current members now have more ways to earn Credits to advance them to the next tier.

GSA welcomes NCR Corp as new platinum member

Since opening its lab in Macao in 2006, Gaming Laboratories International has been continuously pressed by regulators and manufacturers alike to expand its services.

In response, GLI Asia is planning a multiphased expansion, the first of which will establish a fully functional testing laboratory in Macao by the end of 2008.

GLI Asia will move from its current office to a 3,000-square-foot testing facility in China Civil Plaza in Macao.

In addition, GLI has entered into a cooperative agreement with the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI). “We see great benefits of creating technical talents in the gaming industry for Macao by working with GLI Asia in the upcoming projects and programs,” said MPI President Dr. Lei Heong Iok.

GLI President and co-founder James R. Maida traveled to Macao in October to meet with Lei to discuss enhancing plans of cooperation in gaming-related research and training projects, as well as cooperation on Student Internship and Graduate Student hiring programs. “We are extremely excited to be the first gaming test lab to establish a fully operational lab in Asia to serve the emerging regulated gaming markets in the region,” Maida said. “The Macao lab’s mission will be to continue to provide real-time and local support to Asian regulators. Additionally, it will bring the advantage of localized service to our international customers who currently supply products to the Asian markets, and for Asian-based suppliers who require compliant testing services for international regulated jurisdictions.”

Overseeing the expansion will be GLI’s Larry Xiao, who has been appointed general manager of GLI Asia.

GLI operates nine fully accredited testing laboratories worldwide, in addition to fully accredited inspection bodies in America, Europe and Africa.

Cantor Gaming and ATRONIC sign exclusive deal

Cantor Gaming and ATRONIC have entered into an agreement that gives Cantor Gaming exclusive use of a wider range of games for online and handheld use.

This new deal will launch Atronic slots content in Cantor’s handheld and online gaming formats and makes CantorCasino.com a “one-stop shop” for gaming enthusiasts. The new online and handheld games are based on popular Atronic slot games, such as the classic SPHINX theme, which is currently being played at casinos in 80 countries.

The exclusive partnership with Atronic, which holds a Nevada gaming license, is another stride Cantor has made on the international scene in the past year.

On July 7, Cantor announced an agreement to bring mobile gaming technology to the casino floor and sports book of the billion-dollar M Resort and Casino, scheduled to open in spring 2009 on South Las Vegas Boulevard.
