Video Lottery Advisory
Council urges approval to boost state coffers
Legislation to legalize sports wagering will be on the
agenda when the Delaware Legislature reconvenes early this year, the Associated
Press reports.
A report by the state Video Lottery Advisory Council
recommended that with the state economy in a downturn and with new slot machine
competition sprouting up in Maryland and Pennsylvania, sports betting would give Delaware a needed boost.
Council members also recommended that the state consider
legalizing table games at venues currently offering slots
gaming.
The recommendations were
submitted to the Delaware Finance Department, which would draft the necessary
legislation.
