More than 65,000 visitors made their way to Resorts World Casino New York City on opening weekend. The casino officially opened to the public on Oct. 28, one year to the day after groundbreaking.
“We were truly humbled by the astounding welcome we received on opening weekend-this reception exceeded everyone’s expectations” said Michael Speller, president of Resorts World New York. “We are thrilled to welcome the public to this extraordinary new entertainment venue which employs 1,350 New Yorkers from the Queens and immediately surrounding communities.”
Guests arrived from the nearby JFK International Airport, the Q37 bus stop-located on the property-and via the A Train North Conduit subway stop. By the end of 2011 the property will feature a new covered skybridge connecting the Aqueduct MTA station directly to the casino, allowing greater access.
More amenities, including two restaurants with more than 200 seats each, and a total of nearly 2,500 additional video lottery terminals and electronic table games, will also go on line in mid-December. The property opened with a total of 2,480 terminals.
