Heads-Up Challenge Software - PokerTekPokerTek added multi-player tournament software for its Heads-Up Challenge amusement game. The new functionality allows players to battle in a Texas Hold’em poker bracketed tournament with four, six or eight players, while still accommodating one or two players as the original version. Heads-Up Challenge is a coin-operated game launched in late 2007 and designed for installation at restaurants and bars. By offering tournaments for up to eight players, the game will give operators another tool to draw players to an establishment without the need to have staff or outside concessionaires manage or direct the action.
REELDepth using Multi-Layer Display Technology - IGTThe same technology that produces multi-layer maps of war zones and drives visually enhanced images using real depth for Samsung and Sanyo LCDs is now being used in gaming machines.
IGT’s new family of REELdepth games uses multi-layer display (MLD) technology to create actual depth animation sequences for its Standard Products and MegaJackpots themes. The technology also allows players to switch between spinning-reel game play, video slots and video poker all on one gaming machine. Because game and reel configuration are now dictated by players from their seats, operators who invest in REELdepth games no longer have to budget to change glass, change reel strips or physically relocate and remove machines on the floor. REELdepth games have virtual reels that mimic the look and vibration of their mechanical counterparts, so traditional slot players should feel comfortable playing them. The spinning-reel themes are instant-progressive capable and offer instant operator-configurable dollar or credit paytables to accommodate high- and low-denomination floor configuration and game play.
Pioneered by PureDepth Inc. and licensed by IGT, MLD technology is a layering of two or more LCDs that creates the visual effect of true depth without the use of 3-D glasses.
Mega Winner ALPHA Elite - Bally TechnologiesBally Technologies’ new Mega Winner ALPHA Elite video slot offers 16 reels, 40 lines and a 2,000-credit max bet. Unlike conventional slots where the reels are arranged in a straight line, the reels on Mega Winner are laid out in a 4-by-4 grid, which gives players up to 16 reels of game play.
The game’s signature “Mega Winner Bonus” occurs when five or more Mega Winner scatter symbols appear on the grid. These symbols are then locked into place. The remaining reels then spin freely, provided that one additional Mega Winner scatter symbol is locked into place on each of the subsequent bonus spins. This process continues until all reels either display the Mega Winner scatter symbol, or until a Mega Winner scatter symbol no longer appears during the bonus round.
Mega Winner features configurable credits ranging from five cents up to 50 cents, and multiple denominations ranging from one cent up to $1,000. The game’s top award is 1,000 credits times the line bet at a max bet of 2,000 credits. Mega Winner is available in a variety of cabinet configurations, including the ALPHA Elite V20 upright, CineVision widescreen, ALPHA Elite V20 Chop Top and ALPHA M9000 Wide.
MicroTouch ToughTouch II - 3M Touch SystemsToughTouch II touch screens for self-service kiosks and ATM applications are designed for rugged environments where impact strength, shatter resistance, brighter displays, superior surface wear, and viewer privacy are requirements.
3M Touch Systems’ new screens feature a much higher level of impact resistance against breakage from accidental or malicious activity. The new touch screen’s construction combines a MicroTouch ClearTek II screen with a 4mm-glass layer, optically laminated to the back, and has an overall thickness of 8mm. ToughTouch II touch screens comply with UL 60950 safety standards and are IP66/NEMA 4 sealable against liquids and other contaminants. These two capabilities, plus the sophisticated electronics of the MicroTouch EX II touch controller, help ensure continuous touch screen operation over extended periods and in a wide range of operating temperatures.
The new touch screens are now available in 12.1-, 15-, 17- and 19-inch standard sizes and also come in custom sizes to accommodate the new generation of displays and up to 32 inches for large-format applications.
Sherlock at the Murder Mansion - ID InteractiveID’s new five-reel, nine- and 20-line video slot challenges players to use their sleuthing skills to uncover the truth behind a murder and earn bonus credits. Did the butler do it? Perhaps using a knife? Users follow the clues during the bonus round, solve the mystery, and rack up the credits in this suspense game based on the adventures of a world-famous detective.
As with several next-gen games from ID, Sherlock at the Murder Mansion uses the company’s patented ReSpin feature, which gives players the option of re-spinning any single reel and allowing them to progress to the bonus round. After each game, and as many times as desired, any single reel can be put into play and the amount of credits required to purchase a ReSpin varies depending on the current arrangement of the wheels.
The game is available in several versions with wagers available from 1 to 400 credits, giving the operator the option to offer any of several denominations, including 1-, 2-, 5-, 10-, 25- and 50-cents, or $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. Multiple payout options are operator-selectable, including the math models 88, 90, 92, 94 and 96 percent.
Spirit Moon game - SpieloThe spirits of the animal world are called upon in Spielo’s new five-reel, 40 pay-line game where players are led on a vision quest for riches and adventure. Totem symbols become stacked wilds and double all-line wins. Scattered Spirit Moon symbols initiate the bonus round, which can be re-triggered during bonus play.
Spirit Moon is designed for players who prefer free spins bonuses and volatile play. It pays for three, four and five identical symbols in a row – on all pay-lines, left to right only – beginning on the first reel. The Spirit Moon bonus is triggered when three, four or five Spirit Moon symbols appear on screen and award 15 free games. Bonus pays are tripled. Re-triggering the bonus awards 15 additional free games and a 1X multiplier increase on the next spin, to a maximum multiplier of 10X.
Spirit Moon is available in a 40-line configuration with maximum credits of 200, 400, 600, 800 or 1,000. The available denominations are 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, and 50 cents. Properties may choose any five denominations at one time. Spirit Moon is available on the prodiGi gaming cabinet.
Royal Hold'em Poker - New Poker, LLCThe Nevada Gaming Commission approved Royal Hold’em poker for play in Nevada casinos. The new game, described as the “world’s fastest poker game,” is a variation of Texas Hold’em that was created and is being marketed by New Poker, LLC of Las Vegas. The game is now available to Nevada casinos. “This is a very big decision for our company,” New Poker President Vincent Zaldivar said, “because our business plan is for Royal Hold’em to be our entrée onto casino floors and into poker rooms.”
Royal Hold’em abides by the basic rules of Texas Hold’em but plays with just 20 cards, 10s through aces. A Royal Hold’em game seats two to six players and has the same rules and betting rounds as Texas Hold’em. Players play against each other, not the house. The major appeal to casinos is more betting and less folding, which creates larger pots on every hand.
In addition to Royal Hold’em, New Poker has a patent approved for No River Hold’em, another live table game derived from Texas Hold’em. New Poker has distribution rights to a full spectrum of proprietary table games and, subject to applicable laws, said it will market its games with additional distribution channels, including licensing of products to both electronic gaming machines and online gaming services.
