Appointed president of the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council, which runs Foxwoods Resort Casino in eastern Connecticut, has appointed Michael F. Speller president of the Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise.

Speller is a gambling industry veteran, with 35 years of experience in Atlantic City, New York, Washington, Arizona, Singapore, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean, according to the tribe. He worked in management at Foxwoods during the 1990s.

Most recently, Speller was corporate senior vice president of gaming operations for the Seneca Gaming Corp. in upstate New York.

“We look forward to Michael Speller bringing Foxwoods back to the number one position in the gaming market,” Thomas, the tribal council’s chairman, said in a prepared statement.

Foxwoods’ acting president, Barry Cregan, will resume his former duties as senior vice president of resort operations. He and Gillian Murphy, general manager of MGM Grand at Foxwoods, will report to Speller.
