Harrah’s Entertainment Chairman and CEO Gary Loveman has been awarded an honorary degree from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. The degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, was conferred by Dr. Clarence C. Hoover III, past chairman of the college’s board of trustees, at the 2009 Spring Commencement ceremonies. In delivering the keynote address to the graduating class, Loveman announced a $175,000 gift to the college, the Harrah’s Entertainment Endowed Scholarship, to reward and encourage Harrah’s employees who excel in completing their studies at Stockton. The 2009 recipient of the award is Lisette McFarland, a resident of Atlantic City and a Harrah’s slot supervisor. With Harrah’s as a lead sponsor of the college’s Scholarship Benefit Gala, $1.7 million has been raised for student scholarships at the school.
