Recently released statistics from France’s online gaming authority Arjel show that customers have spent 1.02 billion euros at the nation’s online gaming sites since the market was liberalized in June 2010.

The lion’s share of this amount has been generated by sports wagering, which attracted 741 million euros in spend. Customers also spend 9.55 million euros on horse racing and 7.48 million euros on casino-style cash games.

Thirty-six licensed operators in France hold 50 licenses in these three categories, according to Reuters. Arjel reports there are 2.9 million active wagering accounts.
