GSA adds Techlink to its membership roster

The Gaming Standards Association has added responsible gaming to its list of segments its membership covers. Techlink International Entertainment Ltd., of Sydney, Nova Scotia, has joined GSA as a platinum member.

Techlink has spent the last decade developing internationally recognized responsible gaming solutions proven to provide players with the information and tools they need to play responsibly. The company has two core product lines: the Gameplan System, a responsible gaming solution, and the Performer, an electronic gaming machine.

“We are very proud to join GSA and to support its standardization mission,” said John Xidos, Techlink president and chief executive officer. “We believe the future of gaming is exciting and bright, driven by GSA’s protocols, and we want to ensure that GSA standards provide all the necessary functionality that allows them to offer unique products addressing responsible gaming.”

GSA President Peter DeRaedt noted that he is excited to see the growing number of solution providers joining our standards setting organization to continuously address the unique industry challenges we are faced with. Responsible gaming is an important issue and as an industry we will continue to collaborate to ensure that any unique functionality required to assist vendors in providing solutions addressing this is available.”

Million-2-1, Rank partner to deliver

Million-2-1 has announced that it has formed a partnership with Rank plc, one of the UK’s largest gaming operators, to deliver leading IGT and Barcrest Group mobile gaming content nationwide.

As part of the initial launch in February, Hi-5, Elvis, Top 20 and Ooh Aah Dracula will be available to Rank customers via Blue Square and Mecca brands.

The product portfolio will be expanded in the future with the release of mobile versions of the legendary Barcrest Group game Rainbow Riches® and popular IGT titles Cleopatra, Monopoly and Cluedo.

Graphics have been carefully adapted for optimum display on hundreds of handset types, and the games are designed to play like their land-based counterparts.  Age verification procedures and location-based services ensure compliance and provide added security.

Additionally, the games have been developed using the Orbis registration, verification and banking engine, which means existing Blue Square customers can start playing seamlessly without having to register a separate account.

“This partnership demonstrates our continued commitment to mobile gaming” says Simon Woolf, mobile product manager for Blue Square and Mecca Bingo. “The quality of these games provides the player with a streamlined first class experience.  Our customers can now enjoy their favourite games in a Grosvenor Casino, a Mecca Bingo Club and on their mobile phone with Blue Square and Mecca.”

Chris Sheffield, director and general manager of Million-2-1, concluded “Players will be familiar with many of these games from pubs, arcades, casinos, bingo clubs, betting shops and online casinos. Bringing them to the mobile platform will make them so much more convenient – customers can participate wherever they are in the UK, whenever they want to. We are sure they will prove to be a massive success.”

TableMAX gets deals in California, Oklahoma

TableMAX Gaming has complete two separate deals to place versions of its automated table games at properties in Oklahoma and Northern California.

The company executed a contract for its Caribbean Stud Poker and Progressive Blackjack games in Oklahoma. The Quapaw Casino in Miami, Okla., has ordered two TableMAX Systems to be installed in March. Quapaw Casino offers players nearly 500 electronic gaming devices and eight live table games.

Steadily growing popularity of the electronic table games among players has led the company to a consistent string of success in Oklahoma. All TableMAX Systems feature $1 minimum bets as well as an optional 50-cent side bet. The side bet is a proprietary TableMAX feature that gives players the chance to win a life-changing progressive jackpot.

“We are very excited about the warm reception the TableMAX Systems are getting from players and operators alike, particularly in tribal casinos,” said Stephen Crystal, TableMAX chief executive officer.

In Northern California, the company agreed to place Caribbean Draw Poker with the Konocti Vista Casino Resort, making it the first casino in Northern California to have the game. “As the first TableMAX Caribbean Draw placement in the area, the Konocti Vista management decision will provide their players with a unique electronic and community gaming experience,” Crystal said. “Caribbean Draw is the latest addition to our exciting gaming library and we are very pleased with the uptake.”

Konocti Vista Slots Director Andrew Kalin said the casino is working with TableMAX to bring dynamic games to players.

“We chose TableMAX because the flexible betting allows players to wager from $1 to $500.00. The electronic format means the table is almost always open and the friendly gaming environment caters to both new and experienced players,” Kalin said.

Harrah's, MTV Games partner on Rock Band competition

World class gaming and music entertainment leaders Harrah’s Entertainment and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks , have joined forces to find the best Rock Band gamers in America with the first-ever Total Rock, Total Rewards Rock Band Competition.

The competition kicks off in March when Harrah’s Entertainment properties become the first in the world to have official and permanent, fully equipped Rock Band entertainment stages.

Throughout March and April, seventeen Total Rewards casinos will host local, weekly Rock Band Competitions, allowing fans of the popular game to win an Xbox 360 and Rock Band bundle as well as other Total Rewards items and Rock Band apparel and accessories. Four regional competitions will then offer customers the chance to win more than $50,000 in prizes.

The ultimate winning band will be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open for the legendary B-52’s at the House of Blues in Atlantic City on May 9th and will win $10,000 in prize money, making this the richest Rock Band competition in history. In addition, visitors at participating Total Rewards casinos across the country will be able to pick up their choice of guitar, bass, drums or vocals and rock out throughout the year during special Rock Band Nights.

“We’re thrilled to be working with such an energetic and iconic company like MTV Games to further help bring Rock Band to the masses through our Total Rewards venues,” said David Norton, chief marketing officer for Harrah’s Entertainment. “We look forward to giving thousands of Rock Band fans a new reason to jam and take part in an event unlike anything they’ve ever experienced before.”

“Harrah’s is known for extraordinary entertainment and we are pumped to see the first of our fully equipped Rock Band stages hit Total Rewards casinos across the country,” said Christina Glorioso, vice president of sales and marketing partnerships for MTV Games. “The full scope of the Rock Band and Harrah’s program represents a great relationship between our two brands and will create significant value for our shared consumers.”

The local Total Rock, Total Rewards Rock Band Competition will be open at participating properties to pre-registered amateur acts, 21 years and older, on a first come first serve basis. The events will be hosted and promoted by local radio stations. The Rock Band game scoring system will be used to score the participating rock bands on skill and performance, and MTV Games will provide the pre-determined song list for all the competitions.

The winning band from each location will then have a chance to go head-to-head at celebrity-judged competitions in Las Vegas  on April 16, Chicago Area  on April 24, New Orleans April 30, and Atlantic City on May 7.

The four winning bands, one from each regional competition, will then have a chance to compete for the championship title in Atlantic City on May 8th. The regional events and Atlantic City events will be produced by MTV Networks Special Events, and hosted and judged by MTV, Harrah’s, and local celebrities. Each band will compete on multiple Rock Band songs.
