IGT lands its first European deal for sbX

IGT’s exclusive French distributor LUDI S.F.M. has signed an agreement to install the sbX Experience Management System at Casino d’Evian in France. This marks IGT’s first European agreement for sbX.

“We are delighted to be the first casino in Europe to opt for sbX server-based gaming and all that it has to offer. It will allow us to be at the forefront of gaming technology and to continually ensure that we offer the right games to our guests in the right place and at the right time. We are very pleased to be making the transition to both server-based and coinless gaming together with LUDI and IGT,” said Eric Perrin, managing director of Casino d’Evian.

Once installed, the system will provide open access to IGT’s expansive server-based game library of more than 100 international themes and its sophisticated “download and config” capabilities are an ideal proposition for the French market. sbX Floor Manager works within the existing French regulatory requirements for game conversions and is scheduled for a field trial with the French gaming authorities.

“The powerful combination of sbX Floor Manager and sbX Analytics offers casino managers in-depth insight into their game performance and player preferences, as well as the ability to continually optimize their slot floor,” said Ali Civile, sales director of IGT Europe.

Games4you team joins Bally

Bally Technologies Inc. has bolstered its game development talent with the acquisition of the team previously with Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Games4you, L.L.C., a supplier of gaming and engineering solutions for the casino gaming industry.

The former Games4you team members are now full-time Bally employees based in Arizona. The Games4you team is a strategic addition to Bally’s Games business, which includes reel-spinning slot machines, video slots, wide-area progressives, and Class II, lottery, and central-determination games and platforms.

The acquisition of Games4you’s team will extend Bally’s game-development capabilities and enable the company to create more cutting-edge game content for the global gaming industry.

“After seeing the power and innovation of Bally’s game-development team, we are ready to combine our strengths to bring hot games and cool solutions to the Bally portfolio,” said Dave Tucker, managing director/owner of Games4you and now director of software development at Bally. “The leadership team of Bally Technologies is bringing vision to the gaming industry, and we are excited to become a key part of building on the company’s 78-year heritage of innovation.”

Most of Games4you’s employees previously worked for Atronic Americas and Atronic International and formed Games4you after Atronic was acquired by Lottomatica Group and their Americas headquarters moved to Las Vegas.

Bally has opened an office in Scottsdale for the Games4you team, augmenting Bally’s base of regional game-development centers in the Silicon Valley; southern California; Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.; and India.

“The addition of Games4you complements Bally’s award-winning global team of game content and hardware developers, and extends our ability to deliver the industry’s most compelling games,” said Gavin Isaacs, chief operating officer of Bally Technologies. “Games4you’s proven experience in delivering cutting-edge games that delight players and drive revenue for casino operators will only strengthen Bally as a leading provider of creative and high-performing games.

SPIELO, Octavian enter licensing deal

Lottomatica Group S.p.A. announced Thursday that its subsidiary, SPIELO Manufacturing ULC, and Octavian International Limited have entered into a licensing agreement under which Octavian will develop games using SPIELO’s game development kit for SPIELO’s gaming platform in Italy’s new video lottery terminal market.

The games will be initially offered to Italian players by one of Italy’s largest gaming machine concessionaires, Lottomatica Videolot Rete S.p.A. (LVR), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lottomatica Group.

Octavian, an international provider and integrator of networked gaming solutions, currently provides top-performing games to Italy’s Comma 6A, or Amusement With Prize (AWP), market.

As part of the agreement, Octavian also will target several of its most popular AWP titles and themes to the new Comma 6B, or VLT, market on SPIELO’s powerful gaming platform using SPIELO’s game development kit (GDK).

“SPIELO’s high-tech team provides world-class platforms, and their VLT and GDK are quite advanced. When joined with Octavian’s winning content and Comma 6A successes, the end product will definitely have a significant impact on the new Comma 6B marketplace in Italy,” said Octavian President Peter Moffitt. “We look forward to seeing a large number of our games on the Lottomatica VLT network very soon.”

SPIELO President and CEO Victor Duarte said the partnership with Octavian “supports SPIELO’s strategy of providing the largest and most compelling portfolio of game content in Italy.”

Octavian and SPIELO expect to release the first games in the second half of 2010. SPIELO indicated the deal is the first of several content agreements the company expects to announce relating to the Italian VLT market.
