The Cordish Companies are another step closer in their bid to win the sole Category 2 gaming license in Massachusetts after residents in the city of Leominster voted overwhelmingly in favor of the proposed $200 million Massachusetts Live! Casino project.
“We are thrilled that the residents of Leominster have given us their support for this project,” said Joe Weinberg, managing partner, The Cordish Companies. “The Cordish Companies have a long-standing history of developing and operating best-in-class gaming and entertainment destinations across the country. We look forward to working with Mayor Dean J. Mazzarella and the whole community to create a true regional destination, which will generate more than 1,200 new jobs and contribute tens of millions of dollars in local and state tax revenue each year.”
The project has also received a variety of endorsements from civic groups and community leaders in Leominster and the North Central Massachusetts region. The Cordish Companies will now move forward with submission of its Phase II gaming license application to the
Massachusetts Gaming Commission on October 4.
