Locaid, a leading Location‐as‐a‐Service (LaaS) company, has been named as the only carrier location provider to receive official preliminary approval by the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) to enter into agreements with casino licensees and iGaming permit holders.
According to a company press release, Locaid sources location data directly from Tier 1 and Tier 2 wireless carriers and provides geolocation data to every commercial iGaming application accepting real‐money wagers in the United States today. Via Locaid, New Jersey casinos, iGaming brands and platforms can access mobile location data from AT&T, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Rogers, Sprint, TELUS, T‐Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon and Virgin Mobile. Locaid has the largest footprint of North America mobile subscribers with over 98 percent reach.
Locaid's designation as an Ancillary Casino Service Industry Enterprise (CSIE) in New Jersey is a historic first for the geolocation industry and marks the first time a LaaS company has received such status from a state regulatory agency.
Locaid's iGaming customers include casinos and operators such as Stations Casinos, Cantor Gaming and William Hill, iGaming platforms such as GTECH, SGI, 888 Holdings, and iGaming verification companies such as Central Account Management Systems (CAMS), GeoComply and GambleID. Currently, Locaid's Carrier Network Mobile Location is used in all real‐money wagering applications operating in Nevada, including Ultimate Poker and the World Series of Poker (Caesars).
Locaid is the first LaaS platform to receive the CSIE approval. Locaid's location sources include Carrier Network Mobile Location, which is a required component of any iGaming service in the United States due to its authentic, non‐spoofable characteristics. This non‐spoofable location is the foundation of Locaid's Omni‐Location(TM) suite that enables operators to layer multiple location sources together, including IP location, indoor (WiFi) location, landline and geofencing, all to ensure applications meet strict regulatory requirements.
"We continue to work closely with regulators and technical teams in state governments to develop and deliver location data that makes iGaming safe and legal within extremely strict parameters," said Rip Gerber, CEO of Locaid. "The location data that Locaid provides far surpasses the limited offers of other aggregators and single‐source providers. For this reason, the iGaming industry seeks Locaid location to ensure their apps work great for players and comply with demanding state regulations."
