Joshua Zinder Architecture + Design (JZA+D), a Princeton, N.J.-based firm that transforms underutilized spaces into high-impact, high-ROI restaurants and lounges, has unveiled Moonlight Food Market, a casual dining spot serving casino patrons and hotel guests of the Sands Macau resort on the Macau Peninsula.
Serving noodles, fried rice, dim sum, tea and juices, Moonlight presents a sumptuous, chic ambiance in which to relax and enjoy comfort food, within striking distance of the resort's casino and other major amenities. The space combines bold reds and golds—the colors of good fortune in Chinese culture—inside an exterior composed of screened moon gates, which are used traditionally to mark places of transition. The result delivers a contemporary dining atmosphere shielded from resort traffic without sacrificing the connection between the restaurant and the casino.
Other notable features include stone pathways, wood inserts and a distinctive ceiling lighting array depicting the phases of the moon.
