The 21st annual Southern Gaming Summit to be held May 6-8 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss., will feature its inaugural “Best of Show” slot award competition on the trade show floor.

Twelve of the biggest names in slot manufacturing are already signed up for the competition, which is designed to recognize Best of Show slot games. Each manufacturer will designate one machine in their booth to be voted on by attendees at iPad stations, scoring the game on a scale of 1-10 in six different business and entertainment categories. The top three winning games will be announced on the closing afternoon of the trade show, Thursday, May 8.

“Best of Show will add excitement to the exhibit floor at Southern Gaming Summit and offer all competitors valuable feedback on their games,” said Randy Green, group publisher, BNP Media Gaming Group. “In designing this competition, we consulted with buyers of slot games to develop a credible contest that will yield meaningful results. Our exhibitor response bears that out.”

The categories to be scored will be game theme; overall appearance; cabinet; entertainment value; bonus round/extra play; and options for line/bet configuration and denomination. Participants in the contest will include Ainsworth Game Technology; American Gaming Systems (AGS); Aristocrat Technologies; Aruze Gaming America; Bally Technologies; Cadillac Jack; International Game Technology (IGT); Incredible Technologies; Konami Gaming; Multimedia Games; WMS Gaming; and Zitro.

The competition will form part of a revitalized show floor at Southern Gaming Summit that will feature live bingo games and a Diversity Vendor Fair.

There will also be plenty of networking opportunities available throughout the event, with the return of the popular opening day Global Gaming Women Luncheon at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Tuesday, May 6. Opening day will also feature a welcome reception that same night at Golden Nugget. An opening night party follows on Wednesday, May 7, at the IP Casino Resort.

Also on the program at Southern Gaming Summit are keynote speeches from Tilman Fertitta, CEO and sole owner, Landry’s, Inc., parent company of Golden Nugget, and Geoff Freeman, president and CEO, American Gaming Association; and a two-day Southern Gaming Summit conference program featuring 16 breakout sessions focused on a broad range of issues of interest to the commercial and tribal gaming sectors, nine of which will offer qualified attendees CLE and CPE continuing education credits.

The Summit’s companion show, Bingo World Conference & Expo Bingo, will offer 12 breakout sessions, plus its popular Bingo U workshops. All Southern Gaming Summit & Bingo World conference attendees will have access to the full program.
