In June Casino Journal, I provided an overview of the new slot cabinets and games displayed by some of the industry’s leading manufacturers at the recently held Southern Gaming Summit in Biloxi, Miss. Now it’s time to focus some attention on the other side of the show floor, and recap some of the non-slot technologies and devices designed to help casino operators boost popularity and profit by streamlining operations or drawing additional play from customers.

As one would expect, this is a pretty wide open field and the devices that populate it range from promotional products and financial software to seating and ticket printers. Below you will find some of the non-slot items that caught the eyes of Casino Journal editors at Southern Gaming Summit:

SCA Gaming, a Texas-based supplier of risk-free mega-jackpots that has successfully deployed 4,000 promotions and continues to provide marketing and promotion solutions for more than 475 casino clients worldwide, showcased two new promotional products at Southern Gaming Summit. Fortune Teller operates like an updated version of a traditional fortune teller arcade game complete with an animated see what issues voice commands inviting players to step up and see that is in their future. However, instead of operating on coins, the Fortune Teller game launches with the swipe of a player’s club card. Unique graphic animation provides a series of game play options that allow customers to engage the Fortune Teller and ultimately reveal their reward, which can be in the form of prizes or cash in the form of a redeemable voucher.

SCA Gaming also displayed its LoyaltyPro kiosk promotion management and digital signage system, a single platform that offers SCA’s player loyalty system, promotional offers modules and administrative tools in an easy-to-navigate menu system. Loyalty Pro is available in multiple languages and hardware platforms; allows players to access account information, activate promotional entries and redeem offers; and lets authorized staff access system management tools and other adjuncts such as v-Draw, SCA’s virtual drawing system.

“LoyaltyPro can handle any type of video format, allowing it to run video advertisements for the casino as well,” added Linda Gordon, director of marketing for SCA Gaming.

Gary Platt Manufacturing came to Southern Gaming Summit armed with updated versions of its popular seating lines. The Reno, Nev.-based company displayed X2 Next Generation forms of its Lido, Cabo and Gazelle chairs. Standard features on these products include quick changes seats, proprietary Hi-resilient molded foam cushions, cool/heat options and a 10-year structural warranty. Gary Platt also offers these chairs in a wide variety of styles and heights.

NEWave compliance, audit, document and data software solutions can be found in casinos across the southern United States, so it should come as no surprise that the Las Vegas-based company displayed these award-winning software suites at Southern Gaming Summit.

“Compliance must be at the forefront of every operator’s mind, now more than ever,” said Tom Bechtel, chief operating officer for NEWave. “FinCEN has made it very clear on multiple occasions that minimal compliance with federal guidelines is no longer enough. Operators must make concerted efforts at maximum compliance, and our myCompliance Manager helps them achieve that while streamlining operations and eliminating waste at the same time.”

In addition to myCompliance Manager, NEWave also presented myRevenue Manager, myDocument Manager and myData Manager software suites. NEWave executives emphasized that the company licenses its software per site, not per seat, saving customers money; has unlimited 24/7 call center support, staffed by NEWave employees; and offers one-call support for all products, hardware and software.

Casino Data Imaging (CDI), the Las Vegas-based provider of analysis solutions to the casino industry, demonstrated the very latest in its GlobalSuite advanced analysis and visualization software at Southern Gaming Summit. Built using the latest in Microsoft business intelligence technologies, CDI’s GlobalSuite advanced visualization and analysis capabilities are designed to meet a variety of user levels and assist decision makers to quickly monitor, analyze, and take action, according to company literature. Utilizing multidimensional databases and cubes accelerates the analysis process allowing GlobalSuite users to quickly gain insight via 2D/3D casino floor data visualization.

TransAct Technologies, the Connecticut-based supplier of market-specific solutions for transaction-based and other industries, also viewed Southern Gaming Summit as a chance to demonstrate proven technology, in this case its Epicentral promotions and bonusing print system.

Epicentral is an enterprise-level software system that enables casino operators to deliver real-time targeted promotion and bonusing coupons to both their carded and uncarded players directly at the slot machine or electronic table game, according to company literature. Currently installed on over 10,500 gaming machines at 11 casinos worldwide, it connects with all existing slot management systems, slot machines and electronic table games, regardless of manufacturer, allowing casino marketing and operations teams to quickly and easily design and run floor-wide promotions with the touch of a button.
