Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort recently earned the Three Green Globes environment rating from the Green Building Initiative for its energy efficient building, sustainable operational practices and stunning architecture.
“Navajo Gaming pursued the Green Globes designation because we are a leader in this arena and we provide a distinctively Navajo experience for our guests and employees,” said Derrick Watchman, CEO of Navajo Gaming, owners and operator of the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort. “Sustainably of our building, appropriate stewardship of our land, and effective use of energy throughout Twin Arrows are important to Navajo Gaming leadership culturally and professionally, and we thank our dedicated team members that ensured we earned this designation.”
The Green Building Initiative’s (GBI) Green Globes program provides green building guidance for commercial building owners and certification that includes a rigorous online assessment followed by onsite evaluations. A three Green Globes rating is earned when a company demonstrates leadership in applying best practices regarding energy, water and environmental efficiency.
Twin Arrows achieved perfect scores on the Green Globes rating scale for its integrated design process (team approach), integration of environmental purchasing, a commissioning plan and emergency response plan, and for its strategies to avoid emissions, ozone-depleting substances, effluents, pesticides, and hazardous materials.
Sustainable materials were also used during construction and energy-saving, high-efficiency equipment has been incorporated throughout the property.
“We express appreciation to the Friedmutter Group, HACI Mechanical, Shephard-Wesnitzer, Inc., Hunt Construction Group, Sicon, LLC and our other construction and development partners that collaborated with our team to achieve this significant recognition,” Watchman added.
