Nisqually Red Wind Casino Announces the Opening of a Smoke-Free Area
Guests of Nisqually Red Wind Casino will have the option to play, eat, drink and shop in a smoke-free area when the casino’s expansion opens to the public on April 2, 2015.
“We have reached the second milestone in the Nisqually Red Wind Casino expansion project,” said John Simmons, chairman of the Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporate Board. “We’ve been working on this expansion for almost two years, and we’re excited that this day is finally here.”
The new addition features 600+ slot machines, a pit for table games and the Medicine Creek Deli. Two casino favorites also have been updated and brought into the smoke-free area. Pealo’s Landing is now a full-service bar including a full menu of food items to order from the deli, and the Potlatch Gift Shop now offers ice cream and espresso selections.
“The smoke-free addition was built in response to feedback from our guests,” said Cynthia Iyall, chair of the Nisqually Tribal Council. “Now guests can enjoy all of the fun our casino has to offer and do so in a new, smoke-free environment.”
Construction of the smoke-free area is part of a three-phase, $45 million expansion and improvement project that will increase the casino’s space from 42,700 sq. ft. to 95,000 sq. ft. and the number of slot machines from 975 to about 1,600. Since breaking ground in November 2013, a 600-space parking garage and the smoke-free area have been added. The third phase will include refurbishing the existing casino, buffet and grill as well as opening a seafood bar.
Nisqually Red Wind Casino is located 15 minutes east of Olympia, and is owned by the Nisqually Indian Tribe of southern Washington. For more information, visit www.redwindcasino.com.
