The recently held NIGA conference and trade show in San Diego, Calif., was a very important event for Scientific Games, since it was the first chance the company had since its acquisition of Bally Technologies to showcase its expanded Class II slot machine products to the tribal gaming community. Scientific Games recently took time to answer some questions about their Class II gaming machine strategy going forward. Here are some excerpts from their written responses:

How big a role do Class II gaming machines play in the overall Scientific Games business plan? Is this an area Scientific Games is looking to grow?

There is a strong market for our Bally Technology and WMS Gaming bingo product brands. Over the years, we have focused our R&D efforts on understanding the goals and objectives of our customers in these unique jurisdictions. For example, a few years ago, we introduced our wide area progressives to the Class II market, and titles such as Million Degrees, Michael Jackson King of Pop and Cash Wheel featuring Quick Hit have been popular with players. Up next we’re bringing TITANIC and ZZ Top Live From Texas to our WAP link for Class II. We’ll also continue to focus on making entertaining, fun and mathematically sound games that people love to play.

Historically, what have been some of Scientific Games most successful Class II game themes? What recent Class II slot games have done well for Scientific Games?

We create titles specifically for Class II that have been successful, but we also focus on adapting proven, popular Class III games for the bingo market, such as 88 Fortunes, Hot Shot Progressive, Michael Jackson King of Pop, THE WIZARD OF OZ Haunted Forest, Zeus and many of the other popular titles. It’s always been our goal to offer a wide variety of content and entertainment options to the Class II market. Titles designed specifically for Class II include Copper Dropper, Domino Train and others. We also focus on developing proven games for the bingo market, which gives our customers proven themes and content and recognizable brands. We’ve had success with Bally games like Cash Spin, Fireball and Quick Hit and WMS games, including Spartacus Gladiator of Rome and Bier Haus. These games include entertaining bonus features that are popular with players in both Class II and Class III, like wheel spins, progressive jackpots, free games and oversized reel sets.

What new Class II games and support products did Scientific Games emphasize at this year’s NIGA show?

As a combined company, we showcased exciting titles from both our Bally and WMS brands. We are thrilled to bring back several classic WMS titles on a Bally cabinet; at NIGA we highlighted Zeus on our new Pro Series V27/27. For premium titles, we also showed TITANIC, ZZ Top Live From Texas, WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE WIZARD OF OZ Haunted Forest and IRON MAN.
