Aristocrat Technologies has appointed Brooks Pierce to the position of managing director of the Americas, based in Las Vegas. Pierce brings more than 20 years of executive leadership in the gaming industry to Aristocrat and is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the company’s Americas Class III business. Brooks most recently held the position of CEO of BHP Consulting Group, LLC, a private sales, marketing and leadership development consulting company based in Wilmington, Del. Previously, he was with Scientific Games Corporation in various senior roles.
“I am thrilled to welcome Brooks to the Aristocrat leadership team,” said Maureen Sweeny, chief commercial officer for Aristocrat. “His unique skill set and insights will be valuable to our Americas and global strategy of delivering a broad portfolio of great performing games and cabinets as well as exceptional service to our customers.”
LITTLE RIVER CASINO RESORT
Little River Casino Resort (LRCR), announced the promotion of Ronald Pete to general manager. Pete served previously as assistant general manager under Wendell Long, who led significant growth and expansion for LRCR during his tenure with the property. Employed with LRCR for over 10 years, Pete started as beverage floor supervisor and quickly received several promotions before serving seven years as director of food and beverage. Pete’s dedication to the training and development of fellow Little River Band of Ottawa Indians (LRBOI) Tribal members has led to numerous opportunities, which directly increase the value of his Tribal community.
Filling the assistant general manager role will be long-time staff member Connie Waitner, who has been with LRCR for 10 years. Her previous positions include that of director of compliance and regulatory affairs and she’s also served on the Tribe’s Gaming Commission. Waitner is a Tribal Elder, an LRBOI Commerce Commission member and a member of the Elder’s Committee.
MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL
MGM Resorts International has appointed Marcus G. Glover as general manager of Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Miss. Glover will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the resort while providing strategic direction and leadership.
With more than a decade of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry, he has designed and developed properties from the ground up in new gaming jurisdictions, as well as held responsibility for project management, government relations and labor relations.
Glover most recently served as senior vice president and general manager for Caesars in Northeast Ohio, the state’s first gaming establishment and jurisdiction and he began his career as a business analyst/consultant with Accenture and Deloitte.
RED HAWK CASINO
Red Hawk Casino has announced that Terry Contreras has been selected as chief financial officer. Contreras served as an instrumental part of Red Hawk Casino’s opening, as assistant general manager through 2011. He brings more than 20 years of gaming experience to his new role as CFO, most recently working with the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians in Corning, Calif. He has worked in California, Oregon and Washington tribal gaming, as well as in Las Vegas, Nev.
THE CORDISH COMPANIES
The Cordish Companies announced key executive appointments to its Gaming & Lodging division.
Robert J. Norton, who has served as president and general manager of Maryland Live! Casino, in Hanover, Md., through development and since its grand opening in June 2012, has been promoted to the new position of president of Cordish Global Gaming Group, the company’s international gaming division and will maintain his duties as president of Maryland Live!
Norton is a veteran gaming executive with over 20 years of operational experience. In his new capacity, he will continue to work closely with the executive teams at both Maryland Live! and Live! Hotel & Casino in Philadelphia, as well as working with The Cordish Companies on new opportunities to expand the Live! casino brand into other markets. He is recognized for driving multi-million dollar projects forward from inception to opening and on to profitability. Prior to Maryland Live! Casino, he held top executive positions with the MTR Gaming Group and Isle of Capri Casinos.
As executive vice president and general manager of Maryland Live! Casino, Shipley will assume oversight of the day-to-day management and operations of the property. Shipley most recently served as president/CEO of Margaritaville Casino in Biloxi, Miss. He brings over 30 years hands-on management experience in the casino industry, including corporate positions for Fortune 500 gaming companies, to the development and management of domestic tribal gaming, and overseeing international gaming operations in the Bahamas and Latin America.
