Last week the world’s largest gaming industry expo, dubbed G2E, took place in Las Vegas and presented a very special recognition for Mohegan Sun's Sr. Vice President of Sports & Entertainment Tom Cantone. Cantone received the industry's first Lifetime Achievement Award for his visionary changes that revolutionized casino entertainment and its impact on how modern casinos market themselves today. Tony Orlando, this year's winner of “Casino Entertainer of the Year,” presented the award to Cantone at ceremonies held at the Hard Rock Casino. "Tom's innovative leadership influenced every generation and introduced American Pop culture into the traditional programming of casino entertainment. It was and still is a revolution of how the creative marketing of talent opened the door for the next generation of stars, and paved the way for casinos to program what you are seeing today all over the world," said Tony Orlando. "He made it hip to play a casino and now all of today's mega stars make sure Mohegan Sun Arena is part of their tours, which in many cases, they start their tours there," Orlando added.
"I'm blessed with the best team in the nation and it is because of their creative skills and the support of my management team that we are able to enjoy these moments of recognition. This award belongs to everyone," said Cantone.
