Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago opened a $6 million landside high limit slots and table games area inside 15,000 square feet of space in its pavilion.  Ameristar is the first Northwest Indiana casino to take advantage of a 2015 Indiana law allowing the state's casinos to move a part of their gaming operations to land. The Indiana Gaming Commission approved Ameristar’s proposed gaming transition last November.

“This is the very first opportunity for our guests to experience land-based gaming at Ameristar East Chicago,” said Matt Schuffert, Ameristar’s vice president and general manager. “The area will provide the ultimate conveniences for our guests. This beautiful space is a prelude to what’s to come with our $15 million top-to-bottom renovation of our multi-level casino floor.”

The new high limit area, accessed by a private entrance, will feature 95 state-of-the-art slot and video poker machines with denominations ranging from $1 to $100; 14 table games, including 12 Blackjack and two Baccarat tables; select food offerings and a full bar; all new audio speakers and high definition televisions; personalized service 24/7 with a dedicated cage and mychoice® window, and private restrooms.

Ameristar has already begun the $15 million complete renovation of its four-level casino gaming floor which is scheduled to be completed October 2018.

The renovation will include new flooring, ceilings, lighting and wall coverings; all new high definition televisions and audio speakers; new slot bases, chairs and slot signage with the addition of 100 of the most exciting new slot machines; new table games, pit stands with integrated televisions and new table games chairs; a redesigned cage, self-serve beverage stations, refreshed bars and remodeled restrooms. We’ll also be adding restrooms to the top deck and refurbishing all of the escalators.
