Historic El Cortez Hotel & Casino, located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, has begun renovating 73 of its Tower Rooms to debut in late summer 2018. The new interior décor and artwork were done to represent the hotel’s iconic location and history.
The refreshed rooms plan to offer a warm, modern design blended with a bit of whimsy while incorporating a splash of Spanish Colonial style. Highlights of the redesigned rooms include black and white floor tiles, traditional style rugs, carved wood details and modern accent furniture. The rich tones in the fabric and the vintage Las Vegas inspired artwork give the room a timeless and comfortable feel.
Stepping into the hallway, guests will be greeted with a full size monochromatic mural of the vintage Downtown Las Vegas skyline with a vivacious pop art graphic layered atop. Accenting the mural is a bold pop of color, changing per floor, giving each level a distinctive personality of its own. El Cortez’ rich history can be found along the corridor graphic featuring an abstract interpretation of its vintage sign spanning the length of the hallway.
“Since we first opened on Fremont Street over 75 years ago, we continue to find ways to grow, evolve and invigorate our property,” said Alexandra Epstein-Gudai, partner and executive manager of El Cortez Hotel & Casino. “We loved the process of working with TANDEM to design rooms and hallways that are completely updated and contemporary, while maintaining the warmth and nostalgia for which El Cortez is known.”
