As surely as the swallows will return to San Juan Capistrano every year, gaming executives from around the world will flock to Nevada to attend Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the annual American Gaming Association (AGA) tradeshow and convention which will take place October 14-17 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas.

Attendees to this year’s version of G2E will be treated to a noteworthy slate of keynote speakers and educational sessions. The kickoff keynote speaker on Monday, October 14 will be D.J. Eagle Bear Vanas, the internationally-acclaimed motivational storyteller, leadership speaker and member of the Ottawa Nation. Vanas is the author of the celebrated books The Tiny Warrior: A Path to Personal Discovery & Achievement and Spirit on the Run. A former military officer, he shows organizations how to practically apply the power of the warrior spirit to perform at their best, stay resilient and thrive in tough, changing environments.

This will be the first of many tribal gaming-oriented sessions at G2E 2019. Here are some more sessions to note along with a description and list of speakers:

  • Tribal Leadership Roundtable: The Next Five Years for Tribal Gaming—While tribal gaming can be viewed as a qualified success, past performance does not guarantee future success. Maturing markets and increased competition, has some tribes starting to experience the revenue plateau for their casinos. What will the natural evolution for tribal gaming encompass, will the trends of sports betting and the pursuit of commercial gaming licenses play a role in that future?
The moderator for this session will be Victor Rocha, president, Victor Strategies. The speakers will be Stephanie Bryan, tribal chair and CEO, Poarch Band of Creek Indians; Mark Macarro, tribal chairman, Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians; and Ernie Stevens, Jr., chairman and national spokesperson, National Indian Gaming Association.
  • Sports Betting in Indian Country: The Rules, Regulations & Best Practices for Tribal Gaming—Regulations exist and although we don’t want to reinvent the wheel, this no place for a cut-and-paste approach. Exploring existing regulations, learning from the European market issues and setting a strong yet flexible stage for the future technology is a balancing act best left to the experts. Listen and learn as they delve into the methodology of regulation and the reasoning behind it.
Valerie Spicer, executive director, Arizona Indian Gaming Association will be the moderator for this session. Speakers include Neal Atkinson, director of sportsbook, Pearl River Resorts; Jonodev Chaudhuri, chairman, Indian Law and Policy Group; Matthew Morgan, director of gaming affairs, Chickasaw Nation; and Christopher T. Stearns, counsel, Hobbs Straus Dean & Walker LLP.

ON THE VANGUARD

Embracing the constantly evolving gaming landscape, G2E 2019 will also offer a dynamic lineup of disruptive voices, including the Tuesday, October 15 keynote speaker, Scott Stratten, a top marketing influencer and president of UnMarketing. Stratten will present strategies and insights from a business leadership perspective and drawing from his experience as a longtime patron of the gaming industry. Stratten is co-host of UnPodcast and author of five best-selling books, including UnMarketing: Everything Has Changed and Nothing is Different.

Other disruption-themed sessions at G2E education include:

  • Artificial Intelligence on the Slot Floor: Optimizing Slot Mix and Product Placement to Maximize Win—AI offers new tools for casino operators, allowing them to search millions of potential slot floor configurations to maximize predicted theoretical win. In this session, speakers will highlight the ways AI can be used as an effective tool on the slot floor.
Speaking at this session will be Dr. Stasi Baran, COO, nQube Data Science; Jason Fiege, CEO, nQube Data Science; and Pat Owens, EGD/slot manager, Elwha River Casino.
  • Mobile First Player & Guest Experience: Transforming the Operations of a Casino Resort—Going “mobile” has been the end goal of most casino resorts in the U.S., but most casinos have yet to go beyond providing players and guests with informational mobile loyalty apps. Our panelists will share how implementing leading-edge mobile technologies is more than a technology integration challenge and how the operational changes take shape to optimize the casino resort guest and player experience.
The moderator for this session is Michael Paulos, COO, Engaged Nation. The speaker list includes Craig Duncan, chief revenue officer, Venuetize; Brian Uran, vice president of loyalty marketing, Live! Casino Hotel; and Tony Williams, co-founder and inventor, JACK Entertainment IP-GT Connect.

Other educational tracks that will be offered at G2E include the Sports Betting Symposium, iGaming Congress, Non-Gaming Growth Opportunities and much more. Visit www.globalgamingexpo.com for more information.
