How we review

Every review on Casinojournal follows the same steps, and every fact comes from the operator’s own rules, terms and help center, not from other review sites. Here is exactly how we work, and how we source our news.

Who reviews

Reviews are written by Michael Johnson, who has written for regulated gambling operators since 2017. That background means he knows how bonus terms, redemption rules and eligibility lists are written, and where the important details tend to sit.

Our six steps

1. Model and availabilityWe read the official sweepstakes rules and terms: who runs the site, how Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins work, the minimum age and the states where the operator says it is and is not available.
2. Welcome offerWe record the free coins on sign-up and the first-purchase deal exactly as the operator states them, including playthrough rules for Sweeps Coins.
3. GamesWe go through the lobby: game types, providers, live dealer tables and any exclusive games, and we count where the site allows it.
4. Purchases and redemptionsWe list the purchase methods, the redemption methods, minimum redemption amounts and stated processing times, and whether crypto is accepted.
5. SupportWe check which support channels exist, their hours and how complete the help center is.
6. Responsible playWe check purchase limits, cool-off and self-exclusion tools, age checks and how clearly the site points to help.

How the rating works

Each review scores six categories from 1 to 5: sign-up, games, welcome offer, purchases and redemptions, support and responsible play. The overall rating is the average, rounded to one decimal. Operators cannot buy a better rating.

Keeping reviews current

Sweepstakes rules change often, especially the list of states. Every review shows the date we last checked it. We re-check offers at least once a month and state lists whenever a state passes a new law or an operator updates its rules.

How we source news

Several sourcesEvery story combines at least three sources, starting with primary ones such as court filings, bill text and regulator releases.
Our own wordsWe write each story ourselves and link every source at the end.
No tips or oddsWe don’t publish match predictions, betting tips or odds comparisons.

Casinojournal.com is an independent news and review site. We do not operate any gambling product and hold no gambling licence. Real money online casinos are legal only in some US states, and sweepstakes casinos are not available in every state; always check the operator's own rules for where you live. Gambling has a built-in house edge and is a cost over time, not a way to make money. Must be 21+ (18+ at some sweepstakes sites). Gambling problem? Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER.
