About Casinojournal
Casinojournal is an independent site about the US gambling market. We report on state regulation, prediction markets, sports betting and sweepstakes casinos, and we review sweepstakes casinos using facts checked against each operator’s own rules and help pages.
The story behind the name
The address casinojournal.com has a long history in the gambling world. For many years it was home to Casino Journal, a US trade magazine for the casino industry published by BNP Media, among others. The magazine covered slot machines, table games, marketing, hospitality and casino operations, and ran trade conferences such as the Casino Marketing & Technology Conference and the Table Games Conference.
Today’s Casinojournal is a different project with no connection to the magazine’s former publisher. The archive of older trade articles remains part of the address’s history.
What we cover
What we don’t do
We don’t publish betting tips, match predictions or odds comparisons. We don’t promote offshore casinos that have no US licence, and we never present a product as available in a state where the operator itself says it is not.
Who writes
Our news and reviews are written by Michael Johnson, a senior copywriter and content strategist who has written for regulated gambling operators since 2017, at The Rank Group, at Entain’s Ladbrokes Coral studio and at Eyas Gaming. Before that he wrote features and analysis for PC Gamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, Red Bull Esports and Kotaku UK.
